  • The Rasmus, the new hit! [Canada]

Three months ago, nobody or nearly nobody had heard of the Rasmus. Today, the name of this Finnish pop rock quartet is on everybody’s lips, and that because of their new album – their 5th! – named Dead Letters, on which the catchy song In the shadows is. It’s the next day of their “surprise-show” at Montreal that Cool! Met for you the bassist Eero, the singer Lauri, the guitarist Pauli and the drummer Aki.

    Dead Letters review
    KKKK
Classy fifth album for Finnish rockers.
Proof that perseverence can pay off, almost 10 years into their career, The Rasmus are finally making headlines outside of their home country with their hugely melodic but defiantly European pop-metal sound. Dead letters is an album of esay and immediate hooks that, at just over 39 minutes in length, …read more »

You heard it here… Music reviews
    The Rasmus: Dead Letters
You may think you’ve not really heard anything from this four-piece Finnish rock combo before, but in fact they released a CD in February 1998 entitled Into, though it was only released in the US.
Their latest release, Dead Letters is full of bigger and better things, including the dead catchy In The Shadows and the sombre but thought-provoking Funeral Song. …read more »

  • “Dead Letters” review [UK]

When “Dead Letters” was first played on the stereo at PlayLouder Towers it felt like something of a guilty pleasure, and the editorial team discovered to their collective surprise that we were all getting a mighty kick out of it. Because pop-metal records tend to be excruciating; angsty, embarrassing, formulaic tat for 13-year-old boys, and, it has to be said, it’s not as if “Dead Letters” isn’t at least some of these things, but it’s done so well that anyone with a keen sense of melody and enjoyment of a well put together tune should lap it up with glorious abandon. …read more »

  • “Dead Letters” review [UK]

Little known outside their native Finland until quite recently, The Rasmus may just have written one of the year’s catchiest songs in “First Day Of My Life”, the opening track of this, their fifth full-length album. That song has already topped the charts in Germany, Sweden, Switzerland and Finland, and is catching on like widlfire. Indeed it looks like repeating the feat in other countries, just like Europe’s “The Final Countdown” did all those years ago.
The Rasmus formed as school pals at the age of 16, …read more »

  • “Dead Letters” review [UK]

The lowdown: On the evidence of The Rasmus’ surprise smash “ITS”, it seemed that these Finnish urchins were intent on ensnaring the rabidly devoted, mascara-weilding army of fans their compatriots HIM have built up by taking on their louche sheen and giving it a black pop twist so catchy it itched. But that song’s visions of grandeur only told half the story, because The Rasmus are the children of Europe – the ludicrous ’80s band whose moment of greatness began and ended with “The Final Countdown” and the continent. …read more »

    The Rasmus: Dead Letters
    Paul Taylor
IF ever there is a heavy metal version of the Eurovision song contest, Finland’s The Rasmus will come into their own. Perky grunge may seem a contradiction in terms, but somehow this band manages to hitch great, accessible tunes to massive swathes of guitar, that single In The Shadows providing a very convincing calling card.
The lesson of the success of bands such as Evanescence …read more »

    The Rasmus – Dead Letters

“Dead Letters” is the debut UK album from Scando-rockers The Rasmus. Full of hard, melodic rock that recalls the heyday of Bon Jovi mixed with the power-pop of the Raspberries, “Dead Letters” is guaranteed to have you rocking out and grabbing your air-guitar before you can say, “Gee-tar!!”
According to the singer, Lauri, of the Finnish quartet The Rasmus, …read more »
