The Rasmus: the new song sounds like Eurovision songs

The first taste of The Rasmus’s upcoming album will be heard at the UMK song contest finals in Finland on February 25th, as The Rasmus will be a guest performer with their new upcoming single “I’m a Mess”.
The purpose of the contest is to find a representative for Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC), a major competition that will be held in Azerbaijan in May 2012. The Rasmus is not competing.

“We have quite a big song. I think it sounds like an ESC-song, let’s make the guitars roll. It will be a great night, big event and big atmosphere”, tells the smiling Lauri.

UMK-contest will be streamed on the internet, so everybody around the world will have a chance to follow also The Rasmus’s performance.

“It’s good that it will be streamed. We have a lot of fans around the world waiting for the new album and new song. Will be exciting, because we’ll probably get feedback quickly from the fans”, says Aki.

“But as Lauri said, our song sounds more ESC-style than those of many contestants of UMK. I listened to a couple of their songs, there were songs from pop to rock, so our poprock fits well into the mix”, Aki continues.

Despite of it, The Rasmus doesn’t have plans to take part in the contest.

“Maybe in the future”, comments Lauri.

The Rasmus will go on tour with the new album, but the schedule is still open.

“We’ll have an album release gig in Finland, and we’ll probably tour Finland in the autumn. A summer festival would be nice too”, tells Aki.

The new album will be out in the spring.
