Anette Olzon on the new The Rasmus’ album [Finland]

The new album of The Rasmus will be released in the following autumn. The singer Lauri and the drummer Aki told that everything’s going just fine with the new record and that they already have 12 songs ready. They will continue on recording for a few weeks more though. The album was supposed to be released in April but the release has been postponed until autumn. When everything is ready, the album will strike in the whole of Europe at once (according to Aki).

Something good has come out because of the delay. The Rasmus’ frontman Lauri revealed a secret to Voice in Emma – gala: The Rasmus will have a special guest on their new record, Anette Olzon from Nightwish! Lauri found an old unfinished duet song from his archive and decided to finish it for the new album. The first singer he thought about was the new, brilliant star Anette and Lauri decided to contact her.

The duet has been written by Lauri and The Rasmus’ guitarist Pauli eight years ago. “We just got this wild idea that hey, let’s do it now. Now it could be a good time to do a duet”, Lauri continues. After the decision the guys started to look for a good singer: who would be the perfect woman to sing a duet with Lauri?

“Well then I got this idea and I called to Anette Olzon, the singer of Nightwish. She was really excited about the idea”, Lauri explains happily. According to Lauri, Anette is really happy to sing on this duet. Anette also told Lauri that she has sung some of The Rasmus’ songs in a cover band in Sweden. The Rasmus’ guys think that Nightwish is the greatest band in Finland, so they feel very honoured about the duet.

In Lauri’s words the duet is a very beautiful murder ballad just like the duet “Where The Wild Roses Grow” by Nick Cave and Kylie Minogue. Lauri thinks that the delay of the album isn’t a bad thing at all: “the final result will be even better thanks to it!”.
The guys have been recording their new album in Nashville, Stockholm and Singapore. They want to make the best Rasmus – album ever.
