Interview – The Rasmus [Mexico]

We talked with Pauli and Aki, in the Dynasty Recording studios, in Helsinki. This is what they commented to Grita:

Your success was not only given in your country, it was in the rest of the world. How do you feel about that?
Pauli: Our success in the world is “muy muy chido para los Rasmus” (it mean, very very cool for The Rasmus). It has changed our lives: we’ve visited like 60 countries and met wonderful people. The bad thing is that we have to be away from our friends and families, but on the other side is good go around the world, making big our horizonts and the fact to play.
Aki: I think that in the begining was a nice practic. We prepare for what is happening right now with the band. Finland is a small country, and still we played above 1000 shows, and we know how to do it and how to treat our fans.

How has evolved the sound of the band?
Pauli: In the begining we played what ever that came to our minds, from rap to hip-hop. In the third album we realized that the best thing we could play was melancolic rock, and now we are moving in that direction, but trying to innovate inside our own style. We want that our music sound as “The Rasmus from Finland” not like North American.

What we could expect from this new album?
Aki: Right now we are writting new songs, and even we are getting excited with the sound of this new album. There are a lot of great ideas in it. Despite other ocasions, we have more time to take care of each one of the details in the process of the record.
Pauli: I want you to hope to listen trumpets, soul sensations, fireworks in the album. Here (shows the studio) is where we have been recording demos, writting songs, departing, kidding, and we are anxious to deliver a best recording for you.

Any tentative name?
Pauli: We have a lot of ideas, but we haven’t decided yet, because in our last concert new proposals came out, so it’s very soon.

When the new material would be available?
Aki: We calculate that in the begining of the next year. This summer we are touring Europe, and in autumn we have more free time, so without any doubt, it would be ready for the next year. Let’s say… before the next summer.
Pauli: We hope to be back with you in Mexico, probably after the release of the album. We’ll drink tequila! Hahaha.

Last month we published a note in this section refering to the new album from The Rasmus. As you said it in your mails, the band won’t release any record in immediate dates.
