To which bands do you listen yourself?
Lauri: This morning I was the first one in the bus who woke up. So I had a little time for myself. That’s just great! Everybody was asleep, and I was sitting there with my cup of coffee and my own music on. Then I put on Iron Maiden. Now that is waking up *laughs* before we went on tour I bought a lot of music to bring on tour. Lots of different bands but all melodic rock.
What is your favourite The Rasmus song?
Lauri: “Funeral Song” that’s the last song from our album “Dead Letters”. And from our latest cd it’s “Immortal”. A lot of artist say that your own songs are like your children and you can’t choose between that. Well I can! *laughs* We know very fast which songs work the best when you play them live. And I’m sensitive for that. I have to feel something to give everything on stage.
Do you actually líke being famous?
Lauri: Well, yeah…if you’re part of a band you at least want some thing like a confirmation I think. You want to stand out and get reactions to what you do. IIt kind of an egoistic thing actually, to let others tell you you’re doing a great job. Seeing pictures of yourself in magazines and talking about yourself in interviews, that’s all such an egoboost. I’m an insecure guy; I need that feedback, I think I even need it to survive.
Could you ever go back to being not-famous?
Lauri: I never tried that, so I dont know actually. I can say: sure! But maybe I couldn’t go back. I see it with other bands, they stop at some point but they are back after 6 monts. And stop again, and come back again. Over and over again.
But could you be in an other band. with other people?
Lauri: That’s a good one. I have cooperated with other bands of course, like Apocalyptica and Ville Valo from HIM. We did performances too, and that feels very strange for me. Because Aki, Eero and Pauli aren’t behind me. I really had the feeling that I was standing on someone elses “territorium”. I always need to have Eero on the left, Pauli on the right, and Aki behind me! *laughs* I can say with my eyes closed that everything will be all right then.
Does you’re black eye make-up have some sort of special meaning?
Lauri: Most if the time I put it on when I’m very tired. To accentuate that a little more actually. I don’t use it every show or something. The feathers in my hair? That’s some sort of symbol for freedom to me and it’s something I have since a loong time ago.
What’s more important to you: your band or your family/friends?
Lauri: jees, that’s a hard one…(after long thinking) no, I can’t answer that one, I’m sorry.
You once said that it was good to keep women out of this business. A fan didn’t agree with you on that…
Lauri: Well, honestly I have to take that one back. We now have a female tour manager. She’s the only woman in the bus and she keeps everything going *laughs* we listen to her very good. She’s really very strict, no more swearing, and the porn is fornbidden too! *laughs* She’s half american and half french, so quite a good combination.
How do you see yourself in twenty years?
Lauri: Then I could be living in a lighthouse somewhere. Or maybe I still play in a band, or both. And maybe my own restaurant. There are so many things left to do in life…so basically I have no idea!
What would you like to do, to get into the Guiness Book Of Records?
Lauri: I’ve read somewhere in a paper about the man who has the largest nose of the world. So maybe I could compeed for the smallest nose of the universe, or something? *laughs*
