Nearly ten years ago The Rasmus, once founded as student band in Helsinki, published their debut, and their music sounded as young and relaxed as the Finns were then. The quartet around frontman Lauri Ylönen in those times composed lively songs full of adolescent high spirits and at least in their home country they hit a nerve straight from the beginning. They are still successful, nowadays though even on international level, but only little of the jaunty joviality of the early years remains. Darker than ever is the impression of the current long player, with an up-to-date unknown strength and hardness true riff and drum storms rumble out of the speakers, and each of the compositions shows that The Rasmus have taken another great step towards perfection in their talent for incredibly enthralling song writing since their last success album Dead Letters. Underlined with partially eerily-beautiful sound effects, which always create a tremendously dense atmosphere, Hide From The Sun satisfies from the beginning to the end, be it the first release No Fear with the slight pop-appeal, Dead Promises with the dramatic cello parts played in by the friends from Apocalyptica or the simply ingenious epic, anthem-like Immortal – with Hide From The Sun The Rasmus have definitely created their hitherto existing masterpiece!
