The Rasmus: We broke into a hotelroom having a gig!
The Rasmus have done their new album with mishaps and great energy! Lauri and Aki tell in our interview, whats the life like on being a celebrity. And why is Lauri dreaming a job of grass cutter?
The little bit tired The rasmus guys are sitting in a hotel in Helsinki. Hope the energetic guys haven’t yet become dark grownups.
“Of course the attitude towards life has changed a little. But yes we are still as high-spirited as before”, says Aki.
Also Lauri is proving that embarrasing moments are following them all the time: “On one gig, I slided down from the stage and I hit my chin on the floor. Once Eero fell on to Aki’s drums. There is still a blemish of Eero’s teeth on Aki’s cymbal!” The most strangest gig the band has played in a hotel room. “We made a surprise attack to one american man’s room. We kicked the doors open and careened inside the room. We played a great gig in the room, and the man just needed to listen to us! He bacame a fan right away”, Lauri tells.

Speed and dangerous situations
On the world The rasmus guys are humble finns. On the gigplace they are not expecting miracles. The most important thing is that the guys can have their own time before the gig. Then they are collecting energy for the gig. “Also a clean towel in the hotelroom is a good thing. On our list is also always healthy food, a postcard and a stamp. We tell our friends that we are alive!”

The red box: Feelings of the new album
The rasmus’ newest album “Hide From The Sun” is out on 12th September. The boys seem to be happy with the album. “We have done the album with good feelings. On our last tour we made even more energy for this new album. The songs were very easy to make”, Lauri tells. “In the lyrics there is my own experiences and also the life of other people, that had touched me. We soon start playing the songs on tour, what starts from Finland. We wanna play first to our finnish fans. After that we are going to play in to other parts of Europe the rest of the year.”
Lauri and Aki are thanking their fans. Specially the finnish fans are active and pertinents people. In the other parts of world there is also hysterical situations. Aki is looking back a horrible situation in Malaysia. “I brought the drumsticks to the audience for the end of the gig. I had to escape with scars in my hands, because the fans rent me of my hands! Fans are also running after cars, where is smoked glasses”. This kinda car is usually just a bluff. “When the audience is exited about the fine car, we are driving behind that car in a duff van”, Lauri spills out.

Back hair on the music lesson
Celebritys life sounds colorful. The rasmus guys have never dreamed of celebrity. They have just wanted to make music and got listeners to their music. The job of musician hasn’t always been a clear thing. Lauri remembers how embarrassing it was to take the piano lessons.
“All the cool guys played football and I strumed piano in the music lessons! I felt myself a loser. I also had a horrible back hair.”
Later Lauri changed piano to a guitar and got new friends with the music. Thats where it started. Now the band has exist already 11 years. But some else job to do would be good, too.
“When I was younger I dreamed about the firemans job. I’m also a good joiner”, Aki says.
“When I was younger, I cutted other peoples grass. It was relaxing, best job! If we sometimes end making music, I’ll continue behind the lawn mower again”, Lauri thinks.

Aki and Lauri are span of horses in the band. “We are good friends. We have same kinda humour and we are able to stay up late”.
Lauri is the figurehead of the band. “It’s a clear thing, and it doesn’t bother us. We have great places behind the instruments.”
