You’ve got to feel at least a little bit sorry for The Rasmus. No, seriously. Put those bottles down at the back. Shortly befor their ill-fated appearance at last years Carling weekend, frontman Lauri Ylönen was gushing to Kerrang! about having the chance to play at a festival that purely as a fan – he used to travel some 1,200 miles to attend. Days later his band were beating and ignominious retreat, bottled off after one song for the heinous crime of making music that some people didn’t much like. …read more »
Two years ago the Fins of The Rasmus appeared out of nowhere. Everybody screamed on the ‘ooh oh ooh oh’ of In The Shadows and their album Dead Letters flew out of the counters everywhre. Since then, they kept on performing. Sill has frontman Lauri found the time to write a naw album: Hide From The Sun.
Interviewer: You guys must have had 2 crazy years…

The Rasmus are preparing for the next single, Sail Away. The video for it will be filmed in Riga, Latvia, September 18 and 19.
The release date for the single is not yet decided, but is likely to be late October or early November.
With a hook that seems like a pale imitation of the one that sent “In The Shadows” spiralling up the charts, “No Fear” isn’t exactly the jaw dropping comeback that Rasmus fans might be hoping for. Nonetheless, this is gleaming, radio-friendly pop-rock at its best and the Finns’ status as chart-bothering behemoths is unlikely to be scuppered if they keep delivering instant hits like this. …read more »
Who:
Finnish Rockers The Rasmus may look like the stuff nightmares are made of, but let’s remember that they can still belt out a tune – despite being, er, facially challenged.
How’s it sound?
The Helsinki hellraisers have dazzled us once more with more shadowy pop rock. As with their last album, cocky guitars mate with eerie pianos and urgent hooks. …read more »
The new CD of the emotionalism-popper The Rasmus
If the success of the band is measured by the number of imitators, then The Rasmus is a very successful group meanwhile. Especially in finland, home of the quartet, many groups tried to rev up with the Rasmus-prescription, after the break through of the act with the song “In The Shadows” (2004). Darkness, melancholy, melodramatic-this sells. “I even was asked to produce such a band”, frontman Lauri Ylönen tells in kult-interview. …read more »
The Rasmus were the success story of 2004. Now they’re back – but can they ever escape the legacy on “In The Shadows”?
The Rasmus know what you’re thinking. They know you’re waiting for them to fall on their faces and sink without a trace. They know you want their moment in the sun to be behind them and for them never to be seen again. Good riddance. “Everyone wants to say we’re one hit wonders,” says bassist Eero Heinonen. “There are people out there who want us to fuck off and who will say our new album is shit. We have enemies who hate us. We know that.” …read more »
Finnish Goth Rockers The Rasmus are back. And this time it’s personal.
From a high school band in Helsinki knocking out Motley Crue and Metallica covers to a stadium conquering bonafide rock band loved as much as hated. The Rasmus have experienced both edges of fame’s fickle sword. From the dizzying heights of breakthrough record “Dead Letters” to the accusations of HIM pop copyism and the humiliation of being bottled from the stage at last years Carling Weekend, they’ve been through the mill. …read more »

He thinks groupies are silly, likes to go camping and really loves to be told the truth by Ville Valo from HIM. The Rasmus singer Lauri Ylönen(26) told us a few more cranky facts.
For some The Rasmus are merely “these guys with the crow feathers in their hair”, for the others they are the hotteste Finland export since Kimi Räikkönen and Nokia mobiles.
