Helsinki – Moscow, they are close [Russia]

What style of clothing you prefer?
Lauri: I mostly dress in black. I love that color, and it’s always easy to match clothes. You just open your closet take out the first thing and everything matches perfectly.

Did you ever got really really scared?
Lauri: My perents took my to Disneyland and I met 2 mickey mouses, now that was really scary! Because I knew that there’s only one mickey mouse. I wasn’t ready to meet 2 of them so I got really really scared.
Aki: Not so long ago I had a dream, that I had many many small chinese people in my bed, that was really scary, I don’t know why but it was.
Pauli: Once I got this crazy taxi driver, he wasn’t looking on the road and was telling me something he was driving on speed over 100. Then I almost said goodbye to my life, I already thought about the news with and headlines.

Do you offen make mistakes on stage?
Lauri: Well not , no, but 6-7 years we indeed did. And we were so nervous before gigs so we were getting drunk befor them. And when you are drunk it’s hard to preform.
Aki: Well a week ago, at gig, a beautiful girl was standing in the crowed, so I was looking at her and I started to drum really really hard when I had to drum really slow, I saw Lauri looking weird at me and I realize that I play the wrong thing. So I want to say hello to that girl and say thank you for distroing my gig.

What stars did you met and want to meet?
Aki: at award shows we met alot of famous people, and soon going to MTV Russia awards there we will meet Rammstein. Can’t wait.
Lauri: not so long I go I met Fred Durst from Limp Bizkit. In Sweden came some Swedish famous singer, that was nice. But most of all I want to be friends with Björk. I’m her fan since I was little kid.
Eero: yes me too.
Lauri: No, no way Björk is mine.
Eero: No, at least I met her and you didn’t.

Do you expect something special from the gigs in Moscow and S.Petersburg?
Lauri: Sure! We already played in Russia when no one knew nothing about us, we were playing at some Fest. And even then we got really warm welcome from the crowed. And now that we are famous I hope that it will be great.
Pauli: We have 4 gigs in Russia and the MTV Russia awards in Kremel. When I got to know about it I didn’t believe it – Kremel that’s cool. We’ll try to do everything so that our fans will remember those gigs for long time, we promise to play all our hits and some surprises on the way I hope you all will like it.
Eero: I’ve read so much about Russia, it’s a beautiful place and I hope that we’ll have much time to visit everything here. You have alot of great places here.
Aki: Yes, I think that everything will be great. But just one thing I have to ask Russian fans, please don’t give us stuffed animals, we have tons of them, all the bus is full of them, and we have no idea where to put them. We even tryed to eat them, they taste great!

What’s the point in life?
Eero: To learn what’s right and what’s wrong , the difference between bad and good.
Pauli: For me the point in life is just to live. And it’s not so easy.

Is it annoys you when fans scream and sing along at the gigs?
Lauri: No, when they crowd singing along it gives great energy. I always look at people that came to the gig and it’s really important that they will have great time. If they like it then the gig was good.

What does the name “Dead Letters” mean?
Lauri: In US the postman calls “Dead Letters” those letters that got lost and forever got stuck in the post office. My songs for me are like letters, very privet letters, that I wrote and sent to complete strangers. And now I dont know if they reached someone and did someone knows what I want to say in them.

Did you ever fight among yourselfs?
Eero: Sure! Once Lauri, Pauli and Aki had a party after a gig in the hotel room, and I was really tired and they killed me with the noise that they made. At the begining I was trying to be calm and then I broke and called the resepshion and said that I’m rock star and that some morons next door wont let me sleep. And of course someone came and closed the party.
Pauli: yeah we thought that we have a**h*** next door. And the next morning when we got to know that it was Eero we almost killed him.

What superpower you’d like to have?
Lauri: fly.
Aki: to be invisible.
Eero: to read minds.
Pauli: I want 2 ! to be invisible and to fly.

How did people treat you in school?
Eero: well I think people thought that we were little bit weird. All the guys played football and we made music all the time.
Pauli: Some classmates made fun of me because I had pink jeans. And now I think that they were right…
Lauri: After our first gig many people that didnt take us serious starts to respect our music. Sometimes the school radio played our songs, so you could hear them in classroom that’s cool.

Did you ever broke the law?
Lauri: long ago befor I started to play in the band I was in to Graffity. In Finland it’s forbitten. I’ve got arested for that couple of times but they always let me go after that.
Eero: non of us comited serious crimes, but we love to fool around. I really love to throw out stuff through the window, once I threw a fruit basket out of the window and broke someones car, so I had to pay for the damage.

Random thing tht was written under the interview: No one really knows from where comes the name “The Rasmus” some say that it’s the name of the ghosts that comes to Lauri every full moon, some say that it’s a name of character from Aki’s mom bed time stories. The Rasmus themselfs say that it’s not even Finish name, that it’s Swedish name and give us their own explanation about the name, Eero says that if you say “Trash” and “Mosh” fast you’ll get “Rasmus” and Lauri says that their name has no meaning just sounds cool.
