Cologne gig review [Germany]

Last summer “The Rasmus” first attracted our attention with “In The Shadows”. And since then, the Finnish guys haven’t been out of the charts. No matter if it’s dark songs like “Funeral Song” or more dynamic pieces like “First Day Of MY Life” and the current one, “Guilty”, “The Rasmus” have made a name and, by this, built a huge fan community. So, at the Cologne E-Werk about 2.500 fans gathered on Monday night to rock the place. No one could stand still at the Finland-sound. Lauri, Aki, Eero and Pauli could prove that they deserved all the music awards and the golden and platinum records!
“The Rasmus” live – that is pure action! The guys had their stage enlarged with two staircases so that Lauri did have plenty of space for himself to run around and pose. Finally, at about 9 pm, it started: First, one could only see the silhouettes of the band members behind a white curtain. But it fell quickly and the 1 ½ hours lasting performance started with “Guilty”. The fans were thrilled from the first notes on and that wasn’t only due to the cool songs. You can simply see that, for The Rasmus, their performance is as much fun as for their fans.
Even though the four guys are still very young, they already have a longstanding stage experience. At the age of 10, Lauri already preferred playing his guitar to playing with legos.
And the early learning is being rewarded. Lauri’s voice is unique live and luckily loud enough to take over the screaming of the female fans! Anyone who has been around the area Mühlheim in Cologne, asking themselves where all those girls with panda eyes and feathers in their hair were heading, now knows: The main part of the Rasmus’ fans are female, under 16 years old, dressed in black and wears make-up. But the coolness melted quickly when the four cute guys came on stage: The Rasmus were welcomed with Finland flags, heart-posters and roses! And after the concert, as for some fans you couldn’t tell whether the black smeared make-up was done on purpose or whether there have flown a few tears of joy.
