Vanity
Aki Hakala (drums): “It’s not really vanity in the way I look, it’s more like I want to get a nice hotel. A few years ago we didn’t have money to sleep in hotels so we had to sleep on the tour bus. Sometimes we had two guys sharing a bed, sharing sheets and pillows that had been used for 6 months, sometimes with puke on it. A few years ago we didn’t have a clue it was going to be like this, but now, if there’s something wrong – like I can’t have pay to view tv I get annoyed! It’s stupid, you know!”

Envy
Pauli Rantasalmi (guitar): “Five years ago I was jealous of my friends guitar, nowadays it’s different kind of envy, like if Lauri comes to the band with a perfect song that I’d love to have written.”

Gluttony
Lauri Ylönen (vocals): “We had some friends staying from Germany and we wanted to take them out to see something Finnish. We went this bar where there was very traditional finnish food like reindeer and a drink called ‘tear of reindeer’, which is ice cold vodka with a few red berries in it. Then we took them to The Ice Bar. Everything is made of ice and -10 degrees so they have to give you a special coat to wear. We over did it and the next morning we felt ill.”

Lust
Lauri: “It’s the small things that let your imagination do the rest that get me horny. It could be a nice text message from someone, somewhere. Everyone thinks every finnish guy loves the sauna but it’s not really true. I don’t like the sauna, I find it weird to be there naked with other people spanking each other with this little bush! Why would you go into a room for spanking?”

Wrath
Pauli: “We have a lot of friends from Africa. We have a problem with racism in Finland and that makes me angry.”
Lauri: “But it’s not only in different cultures or colour of skin. When we were younger we some how got to be the outsiders because of our looks and the way we thought in school. It happens on all levels. There was a tiny group of people in our school that played music and had a different look to the other guys who played ice hockey. Now it feels stupid because these people that picked on me come up to me after 10-15 years and are like ‘Great band’.”

Greed
Lauri: “It’s more like we are ambitious with music and the things we are doing. We don’t have any real education, job or expierence, everything we haveis here right now. It’s a dangerous job because it’s unstable and could end right now. We’ve been together for 10 years – we would like to be together another 10 years and make another 5 albums – and I’m greedy for that!”

Sloth
Aki: “We have a crew who take care of all the instruments. A couple of years ago we did it all ourselves, now we don’t have to do anything apart from play. That makes you lazy!”
