Lauri Ylönen and Aki Hakala don’t save superlatives as they describe their feelings after their gig in Ankkarock. Success and playing on a giant festivals all around the Europe have been great achievements but a good gig becomes from different things.
- I think it’s pretty useless to analyze how good the last gig was played. You can feel it inside of you, Aki analyzes.
- We are still not the best players in the world. The most important thing is what kind of feeling and telepathy we have among us. You can see that we have been together a lot, Lauri continues happily.
- We are four good friends that are having a good times in their lives at the moment and I guess it shows, Aki sums.
They both confessed that they we’re nervous about playing infront of the familiar audience in Ankkarock. Aki tells laughing that he was ready to bet that Lauri will speak in english between the songs.
No matter if it bleeds
The Rasmus visited recently in Malaysia and Taiwan playing in a packed venues. The speed was so fast in a small club of 500 people that the hepatit vaccinations came in need.
- I started to bleed when the people kind of attacked me. I was throwing my drum stick as people started to scratch my hand. Not until at the backstage the others noticed that I was really bleeding, Aki remembers.
- The local habit is to live precicely by the clcok and do ridicilous working hours. Also politeness gets weird aspects. Eventually you just think if you can trust anyone. For example in autograph sessions the people backed away because it isn’t polite to turn your back at them, Lauri smiles.
Allthough the foursome travels more than enough, their vacation in December means also travelling.
- Allthough I like our supporters I’m gonna find a place where I can be alone for a couple of weeks and just play guitar. After March we’re going back to studio. New songs have been born pretty easily which is a good thing. The upcoming album will once again be our most important album, Lauri says.
- We have already six demos ready and I’m really excited about them. The urge to do something new is enormous, Aki analyzes.
Invitation to Monaco
The Rasmus heading this summer to England to play on festivals. Then you perform in the land’s native language and duo is already revelling with the upcoming shared singing session with the audience – possibly even with the right lyrics.
- Probably every Finn have sang English music with their own words. At least I have and I still sing some Alice Cooper with completely weird words that make no sense, Lauri laughs.
Their gigs continue until December and their last gig will be in Monaco.
- Some prince is organizing a charity event and wanted us to play there. The Red Cross is also taking part of the event. I can imagine it will be nice to finish in Monaco. I believe the conditions there are bearable, Lauri grins.
