Dead Letters review
KKKK
Classy fifth album for Finnish rockers.
Proof that perseverence can pay off, almost 10 years into their career, The Rasmus are finally making headlines outside of their home country with their hugely melodic but defiantly European pop-metal sound. Dead letters is an album of esay and immediate hooks that, at just over 39 minutes in length, doesn’t outstay its welcome, and, better still, doesnt ever really see you reaching for the ‘skip’ button.
With HIM’s sense of Gothic grandeur stripped back into a much poppier form, the likes of In The Shadows and Still Standing have very real crossover potential with their blend of modern rock and, dare we say it, 80′s rock/metal melodic sensibilities. Quite possibly the surprise hit of 2004.
