The Rasmus: they are coming to make fans completely out of control! [France]

France is the new land occupied by the rock group that came from the cold: The Rasmus. These four guys with their teenage faces came here to make some noise and they will not definitely stay in the shadows.

You are in the middle of your European tour. How is it going?
It’s absolutely great! Anywhere we pass we meet a total hysteria. It’s so unbelievable to leave Finland and to see all these young people in our concerts. Even more – as we are also the great fans of music, we can meet some of our idols. We are big fans of Muse, for example.

You already had about 1000 concerts during these last few years. What makes you to continue?
The only reason is that we like that what we do and it is always a pleasure to play our music. For us it’s like a hobby that became our profession, so there’s never a problem to wake up in the morning to goo for a work. We have nothing to complain about. We are travelling around the word to play our music for thousands of fans and we even earn money for that. How could we ask for anything more?!?

Do you thing that your music has changed lately?
It did a little, of course. Our music became more adult and more sad, or should I say, melancholic. The years make us more massade in fact. For example, when we are far away from home during long weeks it’s a little bit scary.

France discovered you with your latest album, but you’ve been existing a few years already. How do you accept this paradox?
It’s a destiny of all the groups. It’s very rare to have a big success with the first try. The group has a real history and it made us strong to face difficulties.

What kind of music are you listening during your tour?
That depends on the moments. Generally, we like punk rock but you can’t listen to that all the day without going mad. We also listen to classical music, sometimes.

The majority of your fans are girls. Aren’t you afraid that they can go to you concerts just to see you but not for listening?
I don’t think we have the majority of girls in our public. Or, we don’t remark it during the concerts. I hope everyone who comes to our concerts have fun because of our songs and not because of our athletic bodies (laughs). It happens sometimes that our relations with the girls during our tours became complicated because they wanted to know more about our private life, but normally everything is fine.

When you are on stage, can you see people’s faces?
Of course! If the public is looking at us they must know we see them too! (laughing) the spectacle is often not only on stage but in the public too. Sometimes fans become absolutely crazy – they are laughing or crying, jumping to all the sides. We don’t loose any bit of it. And in every concert there’s always someone who’s staying in a dark corner and who is really annoyed. It’s so funny to see it!

Which song do you like the most to sing on stage?
The answer will be very evident, I guess, but we like to play “In the shadows”, cause all the public starts to burn. In this case we receive a big dose of a positive energy and it’s so strong!
