Interview with Lauri [Sweden]

What’s the best thing with being a star?
When you’re a rockstar you are free to do whatever you want and don’t need to listen to anyone else unless you want to.

And the worst?
I’m a party animal and I am a bit too god at destrying myself. You drink too much too often, live only at night, and when you are on tour as much as we are it’s hard to keep friends because you meet them so seldom.

When was the last time you were recognized in the street?
Yesterday. I am pretty used to it. But Finnish people are too polite to point and stare too much. If they haven’t been drinking of course, then it’s a different thing altogether…

Who is the biggest star you’ve met?
Dave Grohl from Foo Fighters. In a festival in Germany he came over to us to talk. You think all superstars would be cold bastards, but he was very nice and gave us Jägermeister all night. I am gonna be like that.

Have you ever used your fame to get what you want?
Not very much. I get a few CDs and maybe some clothes, but I am not the type that calls a restaurant and says “I am Lauri from The Rasmus” and demand to get the best table they have. I would die from embarressment.

What’s the best thing you got for free just because you were famous?
A fan in Italy gave me a dream catcher. It’s this thing that you hang above your bed, and it catches all your nightmares. That was nice! But it doesn’t work, cause I had really weird dreams last night.

Has another star ever fallen in love with you?
That would be Dave Grohl I’d say, haha!

Is there anything in your carriere that you regret?
I’ve been a bastard for too long. Since you only talk about yourself in interviews you easily get the inpression that the world spins around yourself. So I’ve been too selfish, and hurt a lot of people I really like. I am very sorry about that.

What song do you wish you’d written?
“Diggiloo Diggiley” (Swedish schlager song from the early 80′s), definitly. It’s stupid, but funny.

What’s the worst thing you’ve read about yourself?
There is so much rubbish in the Finnish papers, often it’s about me dating people that I never even met, and about how much money I have. It’s kinda tiring.
