Interview with Eero [Turkey]

Altough The Rasmus is making music from 90ies ,they become well known with “Dead Letters” album in all europe. “Dead Letters” means “Ölü Mektuplar” which is a letter that has never been delivered because the person to whom it was written cant be found and it also cant be returned to the person who wrote it.
We call finland and we ask questions to Eero (bass) that we curious about.

Although we know you with “Dead Letters” album, you’ve made “Peep” “Playboys” “Hellofatester” and “Into” albums…why you become well known in all Europe with your last album?…
Eero: this time songs and the band is better comparing to the other albums that we made. And the another advantage is we work with true persons…”in the shadows” is our first international hit and it’s a really good song. Maybe the other songs that we wrote aren’t so good…I think these are the reasons that we become well known in all Europe…

You are making your music in english, is it because being well known?
Eero: Rammstein is well known too and making music in their own language (german). The reason that we sing in english is that we listen english music. I mean we grew up with english music so we continue what we made before. That you understand we don’t have a special want singing in finnish.

I read that when you are recording “Dead Letters” album, you’ve watched lots of horror films. And when I see the crows in “in the shadows” video clip I wondered that in that horror films did you watched Hitchcocks “birds” film?…
Eero: yes we watched lots of films but they all different and we didn’t watch Hitchcock. We really like “Lord Of The Rings” film. The crows in the clip that we use have no relationship between “birds” film…the idea come from our singer Lauri. The manager and the other band members like the idea there fore we use crows. But I can say that when we are making our album Lord Of The Rings’s elf language influence us…

When Tolkien create elfs and elf language , use finnish and its culture.
Eero: yes. When Tolkien wrote the book, he had read lots of finnish texts.

In the film did you ever see some similarity in finnish and elf language?
Eero: I can’t speak elf language but it has some similarity…

They are telling that you are the most calm member in TR band. Do you agree with it?…
Eero: I make sahaja yoga and it makes me feel good. Actually everyone in TR band has different personalities. I don’t smoke and drink there fore in a little bit different from the others. And we have different ideas…

Are you thinking to give a concert in turkey too?…
Eero: I don’t know yet…maybe in summer and if we are going to come to Turkey, you can learn it our web site.
