Bowling with The Rasmus [Finland]

We asked Rasmus fans to send hot questions for their favorite boys. The office almost drowned under these more and more funny fan letters. We picked the hardest ones from the top, took the boys to bowling-alley and asked the secrets of the band during the race feelings.

Janne picture: Janne doesn’t want to give up his hair because of the army. This long haired guy was 2nd in bowling race.
Lauri picture: And here goes the Lauri’s ball.
Eero picture: Eero was the winner of the bowlong race. The lucky thing with him was the famous Jedi-hat.
The entrance of Lauri and Janne into a bowling alley at Töölö can’t be unnoticed. Jannes hair is waving on his shoulders and there is an hippy flower printed on his shirt. Lauris blond hair is sticking up cheerfully towards the sky. Instantly the boys are sorry for Paulis absence. The curly-haid is touring Finland because of a movies “pitkä kuuma kesä” promotion. The bands philosopher Eero is just late. Janne predicts exactly right: the bass player is arriving 30 minutes late.
Rasmus have spent time on tours by bowling and you can see that. Everyone is skillfull and the fight is tight. After a long fight the winner is Eero. The band mates accompany his win with big cheers. After the sports party it is hard to get the boys to calm down for the interview. Eero is gazing with his dark button-eyes under his jedi-hat, Lauri is playing with soda bottle and Janne is just doing something.

Do you listen to your own music at your homes?
Lauri: no, you just don’t want to.. We make so much songs on gigs and rehearsals, that they just don’t hit at home. More we think of new songs.
Eero: I listen to analytically them, what could I make better. I’m more into british pop, jazz abd classical.

Can you cook?
Janne: we are the best! I can make french fries.
Eero: The only food I can make is fruit salad. Everything else fails

When will you go to the army and where in Finland will you perform your service?
Janne: we’ll watch a bit that army thing. Not really interested. Don’t know yet.
Eero: I won’t go to army. I want a release of that.
Lauri: not interested of army.

What were your first kisses like?
Lauri: long and wet, perfect
Eero: The whole thing was so groping at that time. Teens have difficult when they don’t know how to act in that situation. It causes awkward situtations. Nowdays things work out better

Have you ever experienced anything supernatural?
Janne: this whole thing is supernatural. I haven’t been abducted but maybe already next night…
Lauri: I want to believe in all supernatural. I want to believe! I like the X-files. Six months ago I watched every episode.
Eero: I haven’t experienced, but alone in a dark room makes me afraid.

Which cartoon character do you resemble most?
Lauri: I’d be Calvin from calvin and Hobbes. Pauli would be Hobbes.
Janne: I resemble of Droopy
Eero: and I resemble Goofy

Who took your kissing picture and where did the idea come from?
Lauri: it was connected into one photo session. We were on a really wild mood. Good that the whole thing woke some opinions , excellent. The idea just came out of somewhere. The picture was taken by our friend King Rascar, who has photographed us much, among the covers of our two last albums.

Do you like kids?
Janne: kids are weird.
Lauri: They got a funky soul.
Eero: I like kids a lot if they like me. I get disappointed if i’m disliked. Maybe I want to be a dad someday, but now it is a really scary thought to be even thought about now.

What do you think about Apulanta and Klamydia? (finnish bands)
Lauri: Apulanta is yes. Klamydia I won’t listen except in Pohjanmaa. Both, us and Apulanta, have our own thing we say hi when we see each others.
Eero: i don’t like them. The good sides are on the background.

Does Lauri really like Teletubbies? Why?
I like Po’s name (in finnish Pai). It’s an excellent name. Teletubbies are a good thing. now they just annoy me a bit. If you have been at a party on Friday then on Saturday morning it’s good to recover with teletubbies.

Where does Lauri get his happy energy?
Lauri: from Janne!
Janne: yes, I give Lauri an energy dose every Friday.

Has Lauri already bought a new car and a talking parrot?
Lauri: whaaat? I will not get parrot. I could buy a talking car.

Does Lauri have the same hairstyle home as he has on the gigs?
Lauri: yes. I never wash my hair. My hair is solidified in my head on this position.

Which hairspray does Lauri use?
Lauri: it’s a secret, you can’t advertise on magazines. The strongest they got on the shop.
Janne: and the one with the worst smell..

Is Janne going to cut his hair when he goes to army?
Janne: I won’t cut because of army. I don’t even know if I’ll go there.

Is Janne a hippie?
Janne: I was born in the 70′s and I got wide pant legs. So i’m a hippiesh person.

How long, in centimetres, is Jannes one hair?
Janne: I haven’t checked. You can’t count this on sentimetres but in kilos. I don’t know how many kilos.

What does “hasloo” mean?
Lauri: it comes from Tejas s-language. The S is added on certain places. Hasloo is haloo (hello) in s-language. The worse it sounds, the better.
Eero: If the word starts to bore you, you have to put s on it. Like ‘nakki’ (frankfurther) becomes ‘naski.
Janne: you can answer on the phone ‘HAAS…LOO’.

Do you answer to your fanmail yourselves?
Janne: yes, as much as we are able to. We like clever letters most.
Lauri: We get so much fanmail that we don’t have time to read them all. Come rather yourselves on the gigs and ask us and we’ll try to answer.
Eero: We’ll answer to intelligent and useful fanmail.

On which festivals are you going to perform on the summer?
Lauri: We are going at least to Provinssirock, Ilosaarirock and Ankkarock.

What is your worst slip-up?
Janne: What does slip-up means?
Eero: In recent past was one. We were on Kents and Cardigans gig. Some guy was talking with Pauli and asked what does he think of Kents english music. Pauli said that it sucks as much as 4R’s english music. teja was coughing beside him, because this Paulis conversation partner was from 4R, Pauli just didn’t recognize him. It was a light slip-up.

Do you snowboard?
Eero: It’s been a long time since I was on the slope last time.
Lauri: I went on a year once. I managed 50 minutes. It would be cool to get on the edge of the Alps.
Janne: I was boarding last winter for the first time in my life and maybe the last time. My butt started to hurt.

How do you buy your clothes? Alone, with your mom or how?
Lauri: Alone, no mom with me.
Eero: We go singly to the shop. I haven’t bought anything new for a long time, I’m always borrowing clothes from my roommates. I’ve had one Lauris shirt two or three months now.
Lauri: I’d want to borrow Eeros jedi-hat.

Does Eero have anything under his night pyjamas?
Eero: nothing, bone and skin, Something we don’t talk about. The G –point!

What is your ideal woman like?
Eero: a mystical creature almost a robot. A round person.
Lauri: a weird person that isn’t easily figured out.
Janne: interesting, personal and special. Oddityis facinating.

Are you romantics?
Janne: yes.
Lauri: it depends what being romantic means. But yes, you have to buy roses and heart shaped chocolate boxes to a girl.
Eero: The most romantic thing I could think is a bungee jump together hand in hand from a cliff.

Are you single or bound?
Lauri: we are all single. I like to be bound.
Eero: we bound every now and then.

What would you do at the moment it Rasmus wouldn’t exist?
Eero: work or studying.I’d probably be studying at the university. Visual arts, literacy and religious science interest me.
Janne: I’d probably do something easy. Working on a building site.
Lauri: I’d be a freestyle cyclist. A world famous athlete. I just boughta freestyle bycicle. It’s cool.

What is your rule of life / motto?
Lauri: someone always goes.
Janne: i vote for Lauri.
Eero: life is short so every moment is great.
