“Playboys” review [Finland]

Playboys
Almost full-aged Rasmus got a gold record from their debute album Peep. Their second albums releasing date is pretty important. You have to strike when the gold is hot. “Playboys” isn’t some maximating winning album, the album presents self confident and individual group, which isn’t afaraid to change rhytm from funky to reggae or try funny psykedelia tinkling. Forward multi phased the totality stays tightly well shaped, the orchesters own sound can be heard behind the slag all the time. In addition to traditional enrgic Rasmus presents holded Beck kinda touch (“Wicked Moments”, “Sold”) Ska and reggae jogging (“Sophia”, “Raggatip”) and loosing ballad (“Jailer”). Special mention deserves Solds psycojazz jamming, that fits in the song like fist to the nose. Gold single Blue finds many equally strong friends and won’t differ from this material any special pearl.
After listenin to thos album it is very hard to keep Rasmus as an annoying trumpet funk performing teenband, like I have once done. Whatever you think about Rasmus’ ladies-magazine-image or outer mudical qualitys, at least on this album the band has grown in finnish scale quite a monster.
